Retro-appeal has continued to remain in vogue for some time now and Pix'n Love Rush by Bulkypix hopes to cash in on your collection of platforming tropes while exploring some of gaming's more 'unique' visual styles from the last three decades.

Players are thrown in to a world with very simple rules, with bonuses slowly adding to your combo meter, while any mistake made will slash you down a combo level. This sounds like a harsh deal, however even moderately skilled gamers who have played a few platformers in their time will find it hard to make too many mistakes. Virtual buttons allow you to move left and right, shoot and jump however a 'lefty' mode isn't currently available. Still, the controls are responsive and your monster has a few tricks up his sleeve like still being able to jump if you walk off a platform.

There are seven different visual styles to explore and get more 'retro' as you increase your combo meter and tests your ability to quickly identify hazards. The music also shifts as your combo changes, which is a great little touch. Each level is timed and extremely short, with 125 variants being lined up randomly to keep things from getting repetitive and also jumping through the gamut of platforming tropes like disintegrating platforms or vertical and horizontal 'pushes'.

Pix'n Love Rush is seriously addictive and gets even better when you explore the achievements that encourage obsessive replays. Easily recommended for anyone's game collection.
