Description
Welcome to Millbrook Primary School. Millbrook is a one form entry primary with a morning nursery. Millbrook is an old Victorian building with a large playground and field for the children to use during break and lesson times. The Nursery has its own garden and outdoor area. The classrooms are generally light and airy and most benefit from the addition of an extension. There are two library areas for the pupils to use and a separate ICT suite with modern computers. Each class has a set of computers for the pupils and an interactive white board. The pupils at Millbrook have the choice of a school dinner or a packed lunch. The school dinners are cooked on the premises and the cook has received extremely favourable hygiene reports. The Nursery and Reception classes follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and this prepares the children well for the National Curriculum which is taught throughout the rest of the school. The curriculum is well supported by extra curricular activities , including school trips, visitors to school and themed weeks. There are also a variety of after school clubs including mini gym, art, ICT,cricket, athletics, story telling, football, netball and drama. The pupils in Key Stage Two have swimming lessons each year and many classes visit Grundy Park throughout the year to take part in a variety of sporting activities. The school works closely with the A10 Sports partnership and with the Extended Schools Service. There is a governing body that consists of several parents as well as LEA and co-opted Governors. The Friends of Millbrook work throughout the year to raise funds for the school and to provide social activities for children and parents. There is a Breakfast club which opens at 7:30 am each morning and we make use of the Sunray after School club at Turnford. Children are collected from Millbrook and taken by mini bus to Turnford until they are collected . Millbrook is well staffed with a dedicated team of teachers and support staff. All the staff at Millbrook work very hard to ensure that the children receive a good education that prepares them for the next stage in their education. Parents are encouraged to become involved in their child’s education and we welcome parental help within the school or on school trips (subject to CRB clearance). Home work is set weekly and children are expected to read daily or be read to daily. We hope that your child will enjoy their time at Millbrook and make the most of all the opportunities which we offer them. We are considered to be a very friendly school and visitors frequently comment on how well behaved the children are and what a lovely atmosphere the school has.* Keep up to date with all the latest news and events
