Description
Irish Flute Pro is an authentic sounding, simple-system wooden flute that plays in multiple common keys and is fully tuneable up to +/- 50 cents. The app features a two-octave range, realistic finger vibrato effects, and multiple reverb effects options.
The app now supports both Audiobus and Inter-App Audio for use with GarageBand and other multi-track recording apps.
The fingerings are based on those used for the real instrument and will also be immediately familiar to Irish tin whistle and flute players.
The ergonomic split-instrument design, popularized by my "Uilleann" app, allows for a comfortable playing position with the iPad on a table or in your lap.
The sounds are from high quality per-note recordings of my 1857 English Metzler wooden flute, which I'm playing on the app icon.
How to Play
IMPORTANT: Since this app requires as many as 9 fingers on the screen at the same time, before playing, disable "Multitasking Gestures" on your iPad (in the Settings app, under the General section, turn the Multitasking Gestures switch to the off position).
Touch the '?' on the upper left corner to show the help labels.
Start by touching the holes on the left half of the flute starting with the tips of your left index, middle, and ring fingers. The holes light up when touched and the note sounds.
Next touch the holes on the right half of the flute with the tips of your right index, middle, and ring fingers.
To play the second octave, touch the "Octave" bar next to the flute with your left little finger while using the same fingerings as the first octave. The bar will light up green when touched.
Touch the "Stop" bar at the bottom of the screen with your left thumb to stop the sound while fingering a note. The bar will light up red when touched. This can be used for repeated notes in the place of doing a cut or tap.
Touch the "Semi-" bar at the right side of the screen to shift the pitch down one semi-tone. The bar will light up purple when touched. This is used to play the notes F-Natural, G-Sharp, D-sharp, and B-flat if required.
Finger vibrato may be done with the middle finger of the right hand on many notes. The depth of vibrato is adjustable on the vibrato control slider.
Touch the Mixer icon at the upper right corner screen to show/hide the pitch select, tuning, volume, reverb, and vibrato controls.
The depth of vibrato is adjusted by the vibrato control slider.
You may change the tuning up to +/- 50 cents. Touch the tuning value to reset it to zero.
