Mosaique Ingrains itself into the App Store Next Week

Mosaique Ingrains itself into the App Store Next Week

I used the word 'ingrains' because Mosaique is a game about sand. Get it? These low key puzzle experiences keep popping up on the App Store, and seeing they encourage brainpower plus relaxation, are a welcome addition. Have a look at the trailer and you'll see that Mosaique certainly falls under this category. We're assuming that the game is pronounced the same as 'mosaic', but we're just going off intuition for that one.…

Muck Chuck in 'Chuck the Muck' - Coming May 9th

From the dev team behind Critter Escape comes Chuck the Muck, a physics puzzle game arriving on iOS next week. It's funny that since everyone has been making endless runners, the physics puzzle popularity that Angry Birds ushered in has died down, but they're still being made, and especially when they look to create their own spin on things as you'll see in this trailer, are most welcome. And with a title like that, your interest has to at least just a little bit piqued.…

Tiny Troopers 2: Special Ops Review

Tiny Troopers 2: Special Ops Review

The first Tiny Troopers is a game we missed reviewing when it was released last year. Well now that the sequel is out, we can amend that error. Many comparisons have been made of this series to the early nineties action series Cannon Fodder, and that comparison is quite apt indeed. You take control of a number of tiny troopers (as the name would suggest) who move, fire, and duck out of the way of enemy projectiles as a cohesive unit. You have primary and secondary objectives to achieve…

Madmonster Review

Madmonster Review

Monsters have always had a place in the annals of gaming. Where so much of what we play is based on conflict and destruction, it can be a nice escape to enter the skin of a giant monstrosity whose only purpose is that of devastation. Rampage is well remembered for a reason. Madmonster takes the idea of causing mayhem upon a metropolis and military power, but moves it into easily digestible bite sized gaming chunks; snacks if you will. The question is of course, if it can hold the atten…

Eclipse out on the App Store

Eclipse out on the App Store

Earlier in the year, I wrote up a news piece about Big Daddy Creations bringing the space sim board game Eclipse to iOS. Well for you hardcore board game junkies, it's been released on the iPad. Now the price tag is a bit hefty at almost eight dollars, but for how in depth the game looks, you'll definitely get your money's worth (and it's still a much cheaper alternative than buying the boxed copy). Have a look at the launch trailer, and follow the app store link below if you are so inclined. [App Store Link]…

Frozen Synapse headed to iPad

Frozen Synapse headed to iPad

Frozen Synapse is one of the more innovative turn based strategy titles to come along in recent years. It's a good example of the player dictating their own level of involvement. You have a collection of units that you can assign a string of iterative orders to, and you can test out how these orders will play before confirming. Even more down the rabbit hole, you can assign the visable enemy units orders based on how you think they might react to your movements, or what your foe might be doing on their turn. The level of involvement is insane, is wrapped up in a really cool aesthetic. It will be available on iPad on May 16th. It will be interesting to see if the game loses anything in its t…

Ninja Striker - Striking Ninja Action?

Ninja Striker - Striking Ninja Action?

It's a pixel platformer with ninjas on the iPhone. Most would be saying to themselves, "Ho hum, like we haven't seen that a thousand times before". I dunno, have a look at the trailer. The numbers that pop out of enemies are kind of amusing, and if the travelling around is as fluid as it looks, this could be a fun time. The game is due out on May 2nd.…

LEGO Batman: DC Super Heroes Review

LEGO Batman: DC Super Heroes Review

Let this review begin by saying this is a near perfect port of Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes that was released last year on every other platform imaginable. That it finally came to iOS is no real surprise. If you enjoy the Lego games and haven't given this one a go, then you probably don't need to bother with the rest of this review. Everyone else, let's continue on. The first Lego Batman was a favourite of the series, but mainly focused on the caped crusader and his rogues gallery of…

The House of the Dead: Overkill™- The Lost Reels Review

The House of the Dead: Overkill™- The Lost Reels Review

The House of the Dead Overkill was released on the Wii in 2009. The 5th entry in the infamous rail shooter arcade mainstay franchise, this console exclusive diverged from its source material, creating a grindhouse aesthetic with ridiculous over the top characters, plot twists, and more swearing that even Grand Theft Auto is used to. Now in 2013 we have The Lost Reels for the iOS platform, where you take control of either Agent G or Isaac Washington as you blast through deleted scenes,…

For those who like Skipping Stones

For those who like Skipping Stones

Skim it! releases on the 2nd of May. It's the same type of game as Paper Toss or Bottle Cap Blitz in that you're using a simple action to gain a high score. As one who never quite got the hang of skipping stones as a child, it intrigues me alone on that factor. Have a look at the trailer.…

App Wrap Up (Week Ending 26th April, 2013)

Hey hey readers, and welcome to another installment of your favourite feature on the site, the App Wrap Up! It's been a week of transition as we say goodbye to Andrew and welcome on James to fill his place. The video content has been missed, but you will always have good ol' Dave here with his written content (which for the most part, was the backbone of our video content anyway)! Oh, and it's also my birthday, so yes, I am indeed taking time out of this day of celebration to let you know about some games that may have fallen under the radar based on their trailers. We don't have too many this week, so let's get started!   Fill Spector (WOW Inc.) So aside from the game being enjoye…

Iron Man 3 - The Official Game Review

Iron Man 3 - The Official Game Review

The Iron Man franchise is one of cinema's heavy hitters, and thus you can always expect a tie-in videogame to accompany it. The previous movies have all had game tie-ins, and like with most Gameloft releases, they have been of a certain level of quality. Not fantastic, but definitely playable and enjoyable in their own way. Now the last game was a 3D action brawler but since then the endless runner has become the go-to genre on the App Store, so no points if you guessed this is what Ir…

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Run Review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Run Review

Like many children of the eighties, I have a certain favourable nostalgic lens when it comes to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. As an iPhone games reviewer, I have a certain malaise when it comes to the endless runner genre. Last month's review of Snoopy Coaster showed that an average game can be excused if one enjoys the license, but only slightly. TMNT: Rooftop Run poses the same question, but at least a sigh of relief can be breathed as this is an endless runner that is at least a…

Rift Hunter

News By Dave Flodine, 11 years, 7 months ago
Rift Hunter

Rift Hunter boasts the combination of classic beat 'em ups like Golden Axe and Final Fight with MMO style community mechanics. If you watch the trailer, you'll also see that it has solid visual presence, a rocking soundtracks, and lots of numbers as you attack your foes (if that kind of this excites you). With multiple classes (each with their own skill tree), and plenty of level content, this could be a fun brawler as long as the controls hold up. Have a look at the trailer. The game is due out some time in May and will be released with a free price tag.…

Puzzle games go off without a Hitch

Puzzle games go off without a Hitch

Ok, so that one was stretching a little. Hitch is a really interesting puzzle game that kind of plays like a large scale rubix cube creating pathways. Have a look at the trailer to see what i mean. As of now, the game is only available on Android, but the developer has assured me he's working on an iOS version that should be released in May, so keep on the lookout!…
