Bunny Cannon Review
Having to explain the facts of life to a child cannot be an easy task, especially when your species is the metaphorical benchmark for mating. It's probably not a good idea to let a young bunny's imagination go off on its own with conflicting reports either, because Bunny Cannon is what happens. The goal of each level is to get the required amount of girl and boy bunnies in their respective bassinets. This is accomplished by shooting a bunny cannon at any of the girl or boy bunnies jus…
Watch The Video ReviewForma8 - Trailer
About six months ago we posted some screenshots about a new adventure game in development for the ios platform called Forma8. It's been a while, but we now have a trailer to show off, so you can see the game in action. It looks like a very slow and deliberate paced game with an emphasis on exploring this odd yet enticing world their art department has put together. No release date as of yet, but the developers over at Mixedbag are looking at early 2013.[Forma8 Website]…
SnowJinks Review
on iPhone, there's a new gameSchoolyard bullies, man they're so lamePelt them with snowTill you're ready to goFighting in a winter wonderland Hey, it's the holiday season, we can be festive and creative when approaching our game reviews, especially when a game likes Snowjinks brings back childhood memories of sledding and snowball fights, long before the move to the southern hemisphere. Yes, ducking and weaving the icy onslaught of snowballs in suburbia is heaps of fun, and this is in…
Watch The Video ReviewApp Wrap Up (Midweek Edition, 19th December 2012)
Hey Hey dear readers! Well it's a Wednesday and most of you have probably noticed, we have a new site here at Appspy! It should make it a lot easier to comment, track apps, and most importantly, just look around the site. But we're not here to extoll the virtues of the new site, we're here to have a look at some app trailers, and maybe show you something interesting that you haven't seen before, or something that just might entertain you. Let's start things off! Asva the Monkey (Osja Studio) While this trailer is annoying for not actually showing off how the game works (due to its love of quick edits), you can kind of see what's going on here. Looks like a puzzle tile game, where…
Running Ronin - Out December 20th
Yes, it's a samurai game, yes it's a runner, but look at that beautiful art and sound design. Hopefully it controls and plays as nicely as it looks. Have a watch of the trailer to see it in motion. As the title of the article says, look for this one to be hitting the App Store on December 20th.…
iPad Finger Twister
Thanks to the increased size of the iPad, there have plenty of apps that utilize the tablet as a defacto game board, and it's not hard to see a group of friends crowding around it, taking turns in some digital version of their favourite games. Enter Fingstar. While not exclusively a party game, this looks like it would be more fun with at least one other person if not more, as you try and accomplish what the game asks of you in increasingly difficult ways. Have a look at this gameplay trailer to see what I mean. The game is due out sometime around the 18-22 of December.…
Pudding Monsters
Zeptolabs are resposible for developing the iPhone hit Cut the Rope, and their newest creation is a puzzle game called Pudding Monsters. Makes sense to me; people love pudding, and most can tolerate monsters (even going so far as to like cute ones). The game utilises the mechanic of swiping objects so they meet up (which we've seen before), but the twist is depending on the level, that's only the start of it... plus the pudding has a lot of charm (now there's a phrase I never thought i'd type). Have a look at the trailer. The game is due out on December 20th.…
Viking Puzzle Platforming
Icebreaker is a physics based puzzle platformer being released by Nitrome studios. It looks visually impressive and while the trailer doesn't exactly highlight the gameplay, you can see there will be lots of slashing and physics manipulation. Looks fun. Have a gander for yourselves. There is no release date planned as of yet. According to their website, they are 80% complete, so my estimates would put this towards an early 2013 release. We'll update information as it becomes available.…
Did you Know Speed Kills?
Speed Kills is an isometric racer that says it takes its inspiration from classic 16-bit games. What this says to me is "We wanted to make our own version of Rock and Roll Racing". Seeing that game is amazing, I can't really fault them. Have a look at this trailer. The game is set for release sometime in the first quarter of 2013.…
Star Gazing on the iPhone and iPad
Around December, we get many news submissions about Christmas themed apps, or Christmas themed updates to games. Nine times out of ten we ignore these, but every now and then something catches our eye. The funny thing in this case is that what I'm about to show off isn't because of an interesting Christmas update (although its kind of humourous), but the app itself is pretty neat, and something we hadn't heard of before... and that is Star Walk. This is a handy guide for astronomy fans, and those interested in the stars, as it acts as a real time star map, and shows off the constallations as well. Have a look at a video demo. The Christmas update mentioned is a Santa tracker by t…
App Wrap Up (Midweek Edition, 12th December 2012)
Hey hey folks! Welcome to another installment of the App Wrap Up... this week! Isn't it crazy? Anyways, being an auspicious occasion, and by that i mean the date is 12/12/12, let's celebrate by looking at some games that look interesting based solely on their trailers. Here we go! Tribot (deVoid Games) An interesting take on the endless runner genre. The bot has three wheels, and while one of them can hit a hole in the road, any more will cause it to crash. The concept probably doesn't stretch very far, but a new approach is always welcome.[App Store Link] StarCaptain (Number TwentyFiveent Ertainment) As a captain, it's up to you to catch the stars (for posterity i'm assuming…
Tiles Aren't the only thing Dropping on December 12th
The game Tile Drop is as well! Wit! Anyways, watching the trailer of this puzzle game ultimately confused me... but in a really good way. Have a look to see what I mean... It's a free app, but for those wishing to get a taste before the release, the developer Daniel Wood has made two versions of the game available to play now. The easy version can be found here, while what he called the Derek version (which is a more advanced set of puzzles), can be found here.…
Into the Dead Review
Oh look, another zombie apocalypse game. What? It's an endless runner as well, that has a store to upgrade your chances of survival and the length of the game? Gee, we haven't seen anything like this before, he said sarcastically. With all this being the case, Into the Dead does something astonishing. It offers a breathtakingly gorgeous engaging gaming experience. Load the game up, and you'll start right near a crashed helicopter. Turning around, there's nothing but fields and the und…
Watch The Video ReviewTeam Awesome Review
A mysterious meteor has crashed into the planet, spraying forth red and blue crystals everywhere. Four unsuspecting wage slaves have been affected by these crystals, granting them super powers and the ability to form a group called Team Awesome. As impressive as that sounds, the rest of the experience is grinding through repetitive levels to gain enough coins to unlock the next level, only to do the whole thing all over again. But at least the controls are based around one touch gamep…
Watch The Video ReviewSky Hero™ Review
Your fortress is under attack, a message needs to be relayed to headquarters. What is a brave soldier to do? Why it is his prerogative, nay his duty, to leap from the tower and free fall to victory, avoiding enemy bombardment on the way down. Sky Hero puts you in the floppy pants of such a soldier. Your plummet is closely being followed by a menacing fire beast as well as his minions, which consist of barrels, cannons, and hacksaw carrying birdies. Tilting is the name of the game as y…
