Nun Attack Review
Nuns with Guns. This statement depending on who you are can sound foolish, hilarious, or awesome. It's our opinion that Frima studio was counting on that last option as Nun Attack is a strategy action title that pits a cadre of devout gun-toting Catholics against the forces of the undead in order to stop the terrible reign of their fallen sister... and really it's more action than strategy. Each level consists of two portions. The first is dragging the sisters along a predetermined pa…
Watch The Video Reviewinfinite Review
When you call your game Infinite, you create certain expectations in the player's mind. Seeing that this game is a consistent travel through the colored vastness of space to collect enough energy to birth stars, while dodging abstract obstacles and oppressive black holes, the name is apt. One touch control is the name of the game here. Your... whatever you are will orbit the planet, and touching the screen will extend that orbit outwards, allowing collection of energy that is further…
Watch The Video ReviewStan is Parashooting into the App Store Mid December
Parashoot Stan is a new breed of endless runner spear-headed by Chris Seavor (ex-RARE employee, probably best known for being the project lead on Conker's Bad Fur Day on the N64). This is the first release by his studio, Gory Detail, but they are working on other projects as well. Here's the trailer for Parashoot Stan. The game will be released at the $0.99 mark, and will have in-app purchases available to fast track the player. We'll let you all know when the game is released sometime next month.…
App Wrap Up (Weekend Edition, 26th November, 2011)
Hey hey folks. It's Monday and summer is really started to hit hard over here. How can I tell? The hayfever has begun! As i try to ignore my dripping nose and itchy eyes, here are some games from the App Store that may have fallen under the radar. Based on their trailers, we're gonna take a look at them, and if you like what you see, well you can always click the app store link and give the game a go! Let's begin. Real Boxing (Vivid Games S.A.) Maybe it's memories of Mike Tyson's Punch Out, but I have a soft spot for boxing games. Now this one looks fun enough, but in the end, that all comes down to the controls. If they're well executed, players will definitely be in a pugilist para…
Crumble Crumble
Move away good people lest you get hurt. We're about to enter the Crumble Zone. Releasing this week on the 29th, it looks to be a fun little high score action game with some fantastic sound effects and tactility. The trailer will show you what I mean.…
App Wrap Up (Thursday Edition, 22nd November 2012)
Hey hey all. Seeing that it's Thanksgiving over in the US, the majority of the news surrounding this week has been Black Friday sales. Seeing as your site already has that handy section informing our viewers when games go on sale, we'll just have to give you another App Wrap Up to tide you over. As always, we'll be looking at some games that may have fallen under the radar, and will be making quick evaluations based on their trailers. Enjoy! Starbloom (Shadegrown Games) This is kind of reminiscent of Catch-22 in its presentation, only this game allows you to move off the beaten path, and as you play, more orbits are created. Looks relaxing and enjoyable.[App Store Link] Directional…
Hungry Shark Evolution Review
There have been plenty of games through the years that have let us swim around under the sea as Dolphins, but very few that let us gain control of the master predator himself, Mr Shark (cause you damn well better approach these merciless killing machines with respect). Hungry Shark Evolution changes all that by presenting us with a game based on a stunning contrast. The serene beauty of swimming around the calm blue ocean, punctuated by a feeding frenzy of tropical fish, turtles, and m…
Watch The Video ReviewApp Wrap Up (Midweek Edition, 21st November 2012)
Hey Hey readers. It's nice for another App Wrap Up! Exciting isn't it. As always we will be looking at some titles that may have passed under the radar, and will be showing you their trailers, and then making curt qualitative comments based on them. Oh happy days! Let's get started! Rhythmix (Krithee Sirisith) I don't know if calling this a high octane rhythm game does it justice. It looks nuts to tell the truth. Multiple tap and swipe gestures and if the trailer audio is an indication, a fast paced soundtrack. I think rhythm game fans should have a blast here.[App Store Link] Soccer Punk (AppCom Interactive GmbH) A fun little spin on the all too worn physics flinger formul…
Unknown Orbit Spiraling in Early December
Releasing on December 4th for the price of $0.99, Unknown Orbit strikes me as a relaxing take on a three dimensional Tiny Wings. Of course the goals of the game, and mechanics might be quite different, but have a look at the trailer, and you'll see what I mean. We'll be looking forward to giving this a try when it releases.…
FreeSkate Xtreme Review
The tag line for Freeskate Xtreme on the App Store touts a "Kinect-like experience on ios devices". That's partially true. This is an inline skating game wrapped in cel shaded visuals meant to evoke memories of Jet Set Radio, which is a much better inline skating game. It's not to be unkind, but the biggest selling point here, the Kinect-like experience (which utilizes the iPhone's head tracking software), is what brings the game from an average yet somewhat enjoyable experience crashi…
Watch The Video ReviewSuper Tiny Leap Review
One thing that's been great about the success of the App Store has been all the simple yet addictive high score arcade titles that developers have been experimenting with. For a gamer in his 30s like myself, it reflects a simpler time when these games ruled the arcades, and had players vying for position on those hallowed leaderboards. Super Tiny Leap takes this idea, an old school aesthetic, and turns it towards the vertical climbing genre that Doodle Jump popularized all those years…
Watch The Video ReviewNegative Nimbus Review
Negative Nimbus gives you a unique way to approach thinking about rain clouds. They can't help blanketing the land and its denizens below with a thick pelt of water, and even though they may try their hardest to stop raining on everyone's parade, their strength can only take so much strain. The problem is that this lack of self control spreads negativity, and its no wonder this nimbus is so darn miserable. Tapping on the screen as your sad little rain cloud floats along will cause str…
Watch The Video ReviewRace of Champions World... of Champions?
On the 21st of November a new racer emerges on the app store. Race of Champions World. The developer, Invictus Games have dropped their first teaser video so we thought we'd share. It looks to have fantastic graphics, but of course the important thing is how it plays. We'll find out before the end of the month.…
Ninja Joe
Not just an average joe, but a Ninja Joe. Releasing on November 23rd, this platformer uses swiping to jump and move through the air like a ninja. Have a look at the trailer to get a better idea of what I mean. Now games that use swipes to jump often suffer from a lack of precision in the controls. We'll have to wait and see on this one.…
To Dream of Dragons
Roger Dean's Dragon Dream will be released on Sunday the 18th of November. Roger Dean is best know for album covers from such bands as Yes, and Asia, as well as designing the logo for UK based Videogame company Psygnosis. Now it seems he turns his talents towards videogame design, and at least on a presentation level, this game looks simply gorgeous. Let us hope it plays as well as it looks. Here's the trailer.…
