Glu Mobile releases trailer for Deathdome
Glu Mobile has released the first trailer for its upcoming Infinity Blade style hack, slash, and blocker, Deathdome, and it's looking pretty impressive indeed. The trailer shows off a gritty, post apocalyptic wasteland that owes more than a little to 2K's Borderlands, and a little bit more than that to Mad Max 2. It looks like you're job is going to be pulverising mutant gladiators in the titular Deathdome, using touch screen swipes and taps to attack and dodge. The game is set to release for iOS and Android devices in the not too distant future, and you can check out the entertainingly violent trailer embedded below. Via Phandroid…
Hack and smash with Wraithborne from Alpha Dog Games
There's nothing wrong with hankering after a bit of Unreal Engine powered iOS dungeon crawling, but with Infinity Blade Dungeons still a little way off, where does one turn to sate their violent, looty lust? Alpha Dog Games and Crescent Moon are hoping that you'll choose Wraithborne, a touch controlled fantasy that's dripping with the sort of violence and magic that true adventurers crave. The game looks set to include some intuitive touch screen features, such as tracing Runes with a finger to unleash your magical spells, and the environments you're going to be stomping around in look absolutely gorgeous. We've included a trailer below to give you a taste of what the game has in store fo…
Crescent Moon Games releases a trailer for Ravensword: Shadowlands
If you like your fantasy high and your games epic, then Crescent Moond Games's new iOS RPG Ravensword: Shadowlands is set to tick your boxes in ways you might not have thought possible. You might remember we reviewed the original Ravensword game, The Fallen King, many moons ago. It got a perfect score. And it looks like this sequel has improved on pretty much everything its predecessor had to offer. There's more than an air of Skyrim in the first trailer for the game, which you can check out below, and it will apparently sport more than 40 hours of play time for anyone who wants to see everything it has to offer. The game is slated for a release sometime before the end of the ye…
Mistwalker releases Blade Guardian
Mistwalker, the studio set up by legendary Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, has released its second iOS game, a tower defence title caled Blade Guardian. The game certainly looks impressive, with blobby cartoon monsters, and plenty of levels for you to sink your defensive real time strategy teeth into. It's certainly a more conventional game than Mistwalker's first attempt at an App Store title, Party Wave, which drew on Sakaguchi's love of surfing to create a strange mix of dolphin poking and big wave catching. Blade Guardian should be available from the App Store right now, and it'll cost you $0.69 to find out if Mistwalker's magic touch with the JRPG can transfer to the some…
Madfinger teases Shadowgun: Deadzone
Madfinger Games, the developer behind Shadowgun and Dead Trigger, has revealed a new teaser image for their upcoming third person multiplayer shooter, Shadowgun: Deadzone. The image shows a group of grizzled looking mercaneries, presumably all characters you can play in the blaster, standing around looking grizzled. You can check it out for yourself below. We gave the original Shadowgun a 4 in our review, and anyone who's seen it in action knows just how impressive the game looks. Hopefully Deadzone will be able to capture some of the frantic multiplayer action that mobile games have been lacking for a while. There's no firm release date for the game yet, which was first announced at th…
Rovio launches Bad Piggies at the App Store
If you've ever worried that maybe the green, egg stealing pigs in Angry Birds never get a chance to tell their side of the story, then fret no more, because Bad Piggies finally lets you set the record straight. The latest game set in the Angry Birds universe, Bad Piggies lets you build contraptions in order to save the poor defenceless piggies from the attentions of the annoyed avians. The game is still all about physics, but this time you're building rather than destroying, attempting to ferry your worried looking pigs to safety on a ramshackle vehicle of your own creation. You can pick up Bad Piggies from the App Store for just $0.99, and while it might not be the most original of tit…

The Last Express arriving on the App Store on the 27th
If you're a fan of point and click adventures, then Thursday is a day to mark in your diary, because it sees the release of The Last Express, a forgotten classic of the genre created by Prince of Persia's Jordan Mechner. Set on the Orient Express in 1914, the game is a mix of mystery, suspense, action, and romance, all presented in a unique and gorgeous cartoon style. Heavily praised on its original release, the game didn't quite grab the mainstream's attention, but many die hard point and clickers consider it the finest example of the genre ever created. This iOS version is a faithful port by the team at DotEmu, whose previous smartphone and tablet credits include R-Type and Another Worl…
Modern Combat 4 announced at TGS
A video has leaked online that shows off the first trailer for the inevitable fourth enty in Gameloft's soldiering FPS series, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour. And it's fair to say that the prolific developer ise still finding inspiration from another series of games with a similar name. While the trailer doesn't show much actual gameplay, it does reveal that the game is going to be released in the Autumn. So that's anytime from now until November really. If the previous entires into the series are anything to go by, you can expect a single player campaign featuring lots of running and shooting, and a pretty solid multiplayer mode to boot. We gave the last game in the series, Modern…
iMpulse is the world's smallest wireless controller for mobile devices
Some KickStarter projects make you sit up and take notice, and the iMpulse certainly fits into that category. It's a key ring that doubles up as a wireless controller for your iOS or Android device. More than that, it lets you control your media, take photos without touching your phone or tablet, and if you install a special app, it'll even make a sound when you're trying to find your keys. You can use it either way round, so if you're a wierdo who uses controllers backwars you're well catered for, and you can even sync two to the same device, opening up a whole swarm of multiplayer possibilities. The device connects through bluetooth, so battery life shouldn't be too much of a problem,…
N.O.V.A. 3 for iOS receives a sizeable update
Gameloft has released another free content update for its impressive futuristic FPS, N.O.V.A. 3, adding a new multiplayer mode, a new map to scrap on, and voice chat on selected devices too. The new multiplayer mode is called Team InstaGib, and, as its name suggests, is a team based, one-shot-kill battle to the death. Everyone has the same weapon, making it a real test of your twitchy shooting skills. The new map is called Warehouse. It's set in futuristic San Francisco, and its mix of long and short range combat opportunities make it an intriguing prospects. Throw in some Halo style jet packs, and you're left with an arena that has something for everyone. And last but not least, the ne…
Capcom unleashes Street Fighter X Tekken onto the App Store
Capcom has finally released the iOS version of their console smash hit, Street Fighter X Tekken. It brings with it Retina support, and a robust online mode that fighter fans are going to love. Built from the ground up as a touch screen experience, the game features a roster of ten legendary characters from the Street Fighter and Tekken series, and lets you take part in furious two on two tag team battles. We've embedded a slightly mental Japanese launch trailer below so you can get a decent idea of what the game's all about, but we'd suggest you pick it up sharpish, as the game's on sale for just $2.99/£1.99 for a limited time only.…
Play the first level of Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land for free
If you're interested in Red Wasp Design's ghoulish RTS Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land, which sees you battling against nightmarish forces in an alternate World War 1, you can now grab a free trial of the tutorial and the first level for nothing at all. Since we reviewed the game at the start of the year, there've been a few tweaks to the gameplay, and plenty of new content packs that add even more gloopy violence to the tale of soldiers and investigators attempting to uncover an evil conspiracy at the heart of the Great War. More interestingly, if you're still not convinced after playing the first level, you can pay a little extra to buy the next one, and have a bash through that while…
