Just how much damage can your mobile gaming device withstand?
There are a lot of things to consider when deciding which mobile, tablet, or handheld device you're planning to purchase. How many people consider how much damage your device is capable of taking before it jacks it in permanently? Not enough people, I'd wager. As ever, AppSpy has got your back and has taken the liberty of investigating this delicate issue for you. We find out which of your gaming devices can withstand the most damage with assistance from Blendtec. 1. iPhone 6 Plus - One thing's for sure: the iPhone 6 Plus bends. But how does it handle itself in a swirling vaccum of blades? Ultimately, not very well to be honest but it did put up a rather impressive fight. 2. …
Soul Seeker is a mobile action RPG that's all about the team effort
Come to think of it, most action RPGs are selfish experiences. Bar a small few, you're largely on your own destroying absolutely everything in your path such as orcs or barrels just minding their own business. However, in Soul Seeker you assemble a whole team of action junkies to take on the world with. Let's hope that means you don't have to hammer the health potion button when you can get a team mate to heal you instead. Soul Seeker RIse of the Devils is out now on iOS and Android. The trailer below will give you a better look at the game and the links below will take you to the App Store and Google Play. [App Store link] [Google Play link]…
Welcome to Toysburg where a lunatic skates around turning children into their favourite toys
Toysburg is a free to play sandbox game by Angry Mob Games, the developers behind Muffin Knight, that's currently in soft launch in Australia. True to form, Toysburg has a similar cartoon style and charm. You skate around turning children into their favourite toys for an as of yet unknown reason. There's a crafting system that lets you take parts from different toys to make a new toy altogether. Ever wanted to put a Viking's head on a cows body with octopus tentacles for feet? Now you can. Check out the debut trailer below to witness Toysburg's insanity for yourself. It's set to launch on the App Store and Google Play later this year.…

They're not going to give up, AppSpies - there's a real determination in the industry to get a decent first person shooter experience on your mobile. The latest effort is Midnight Star, which mixes things up a bit by putting movement on rails so that you can concentrate solely on what's important - shooting aliens with massive guns. Evoland is a parody of pretty much every RPG ever and is out now on iOS and Android
What Evoland aims to do is recreate all of your finest RPG memories from the 8-bit era to modern day 3D all in one game. Evoland starts out in monochrome with turn-based battles but as you progress you'll unlock better technology until you're exploring a fully 3D version of the same world and duking it out with monsters in real time, action-packed battles. As an RPG nut, I'm already sold. For those still unsure, check out the trailer below then head on over to the App Store page beneath if it takes your fancy. [App Store link]…
DUO! aims to reinvent pair-em up memory games and is out tomorrow on iOS
At first glance, DUO! looks to be just like every other match-two puzzler. You tap face down cards on the board to reveal their numbers, memorising them so that you can match two in future. Where it differs here, though, is that you can go on a straight if you discover where one, two, and three are hiding, giving you more points. There are plenty of bonuses and minigames to round out DUO!'s eighty levels of regular play. Check out the trailer below in anticipation of DUO! arriving on the App Store tomorrow, 5th February. …
Swap Heroes 2 aims to improve pretty much every aspect of the original on February 18th
Swap Heroes may have the most self-explanatory title of all time. You control a party of four heroes - three at the front, one at the back. The one at the back can be swapped with any of those in the front during your turn in combat. Doing so will unleash the swapped character's special ranged or melee attack on the enemies in front of him. Plenty of new stuff has been added such as a quest system, character upgrades, and an endless mode where you fight until you die - just like in the original. Swap Heroes 2 is set to launch on the App Store on February 18th. Check out the official trailer below.…
How to play Bayonetta on your iPhone (sort of)
Yes, you read that correctly, AppSpies - you can now play Bayonetta on your iPhone. However, before your hopes get raised and then brought crashing down to earth in a spiral of hatred and death threats, this isn't the full Bayonetta experience that you'd get on your chosen console. Take a deep breath. This is the browser version of Bayonetta - which is still Bayonetta, just not THAT Bayonetta. You see? Check out the video below where James shows you how to get it running on your phone and a little taste as to how the game plays. Enjoy!…
Check out Vainglory's newest hero and technological powerhouse, Ardan
Ardan is the latest hero to be added to the Vainglory roster and he looks set to offer something a little different for veterans of the visually stunning MOBA. He's all about the technology, is Ardan, with a metal backpack and armour attached to a massive robotic arm that puts even Arnold Schwarzenegger's to shame. Ardan can take a few blows, with most of his abilities based around negating damage for himself and his companions. He also utilises his own energy system known as 'vengeance' which is empty when he begins a fight but both attacking and using abilities smartly recharges it for use. Check out the video below for an in-depth look at Vainglory's latest hero then follow t…

The top 10 Action RPGs that are yet to make it onto mobile
Action RPGs have found a reasonably good home on mobile. We have Dungeon Hunter, Kingsroad, and Bastion which all have deft touch controls, expansive worlds to explore, and, most importantly, loot. Lots of loot. However, mobile definitely needs more of the classic entries in the genre, so I've compiled a list of the 10 best action RPGs that could conceivably come to mobile. 1. Diablo II - Arguably the most important action RPG of all time, the Diablo franchise instilled in a lot of gamers an unhealthy addiction to loot that still remains today. Diablo II is the highlight of the franchise so far. 2. Torchlight II - If…
Fahrenheit Remastered is out now on iOS and an Android version is in the works
There has been a fair bit of hype surrounding Fahrenheit this week due to it kind of just re-appearing out of nowhere. The folks responsible for porting Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Aspyr Media, have once again used their expertise to bring an aging game to the world of touch. The iOS version is out right now and an Android version is expected to arrive later this year. Check out the trailer below, and if you want it for yourself head on over to the App Store via the link below. [App Store link]…
The top 13 Western RPGs that are yet to make it onto mobile
Western RPGs come in a variety of different flavours but in general they're darker, bloodier, and more open-ended than their Japanese counterparts. Yesterday's list was much shorter and for one reason: a lot of the greatest JRPGs have already made it onto mobile. There are a lot of Western RPGs that are timeless and shouldn't remain as a forgotten chapter in gaming history. Here's a list of the top 13 that I think should be preserved on iOS and Android. 1. Gothic II - Most certainly Piranha Bytes' best game ever, Gothic II stands the test of time by having one of the grittiest and most responsive worlds in RPG history. The combat system was rhythm based and would serve…
The first episode of Sons of Anarchy: The Prospect is out now on iOS
Sons of Anarchy: The Prospect quite liberally draws its inspirations from the Telltale adventure games. There's cel-shading, an episodic release schedule, and a plot taken from a popular film or TV series. Still, I guess it was inevitable that a developer would try and mimic the excellent framework laid down by Telltale. The launch trailer below gives you a look at the game in motion and the link below will take you right to the App Store page. [App Store link]…
The top 8 Japanese RPGs that are yet to make it onto mobile
JRPGs make up a huge selection of my fondest gaming memories and I know I'm not the only one. From their diverse cast of characters, intense battle sections, and ridiculous plots, it's hard not to fall in love with the genre once you've played your first. A lot of JRPGs have already made the jump onto iOS and Android but I'll never be satisfied until they're all on there. Hence this list, which is essentially a wishlist of AppSpy's top 8 Japanese RPGs that are yet to make it onto mobile. 1. Tales of Symphonia - My favourite game of all time, Tales of Symphonia has got it all. An addictive and emotionally charged plot, the best characters of any JRPG ever, an action…
