Would you dare to accept the challenge to end the explosively short lives of furballs in the never ending quest to use their eyes for magical elixirs? Chuzzle by PopCap Games is the latest PC-to-iPhone convert of one of their more colorful and fast paced match-three style games and begs the question "Just what are Chuzzles anyway?".
Combos are made by dragging rows or columns around in order to align the colored furballs for their explosive final acts. This can be further complicated by "fat" Chuzzles that require two lanes to move and stop at the edges or "locks" that can be placed on individual Chuzzles that prevent movement in that row or column.
For a PopCap game, Chuzzle is amazingly bright and cheery. To stand out amongst their other rather colorful and cheery products in this way goes to show just how far out things can get, but the bright explosions are a satisfying reward to a job well done. Depending on the gameplay you choose, the music style will change accordingly from an upbeat tempo in Race-the-clock to a relaxing thoughtful montage in Mind Bender puzzle mode.
While there are only four game modes to play from, each is fun and challenging in their own way with Mind Bender mode almost being a free game unto itself. Sadly there are no online leaderboards or connectivity for the game, which is a huge shame for a competitive game like this, but even without it Chuzzle remains a great match game to enjoy.
