Cross Fingers by Mobigames is about as polished as a puzzle game can get on the iPhone with a slick presentation and stunningly simple gameplay that will eat up all of your spare time.
The challenge of Cross Fingers is a basic one with players invited to shift blocks of varying size and shape to fill the voids on the screen. Much like tangram puzzles, these voids can be comprised of extremely odd shapes and will require some logic to piece together the final composition. However, this is only the first part of the problem as each level often uses restrictive pathing to block the movement of the pieces. The interface allows you to drag blocks around and will lock pieces to a grid once let go in order to keep joins seamless.
What makes this such a class act is that it manages to use an all-wood theme that's not boring to look at. Basic themes like this can get tiresome eventually, but there's a charm that comes from shifting these blocks. Each piece has weight to it and knocking them together gives a rewarding wooden clunk. With 120 puzzles to complete and an Arcade mode to unlock, there's plenty of value here.
Cross Fingers isn't as mind-bending as other challenging puzzle games out there and also lacks a system for ranking results in puzzles, but it's as engrossing as an App can get. If you only have thirty seconds spare then there's plenty of time to crank out one of these solutions. It's definitely worth checking out for casual fans of puzzle games.
