Good news! The latest version of Apple's operating software for its mobile devices, iOS 10, is due to be released on 13th September.
But how do you, the eager iPhone user, update your now-obsolete (just joking) device?
What's in iOS 10?
Firstly, you want to know what you're getting with iOS 10. The headline features are in the Messages app, which has undergone a number of improvements.
You can now send gifs and stickers, plus there's neat little touches like emoji suggestions when you type in words like 'happy' or 'football'.
Elsewhere, you can see what landmarks (like shops or restaurants) are along your route in Maps, while you can now just pick your iPhone up to wake the screen - useful for those who, like me, are addicted to Twitter while working…
What devices support iOS 10?
Of course, all the improvements are irrelevent to you if your phone can't support iOS 10.
You can upgrade if you're rocking an iPhone 5 / iPad 4 / iPod Touch 6th Generation or above, so get ready to rumble! (Or don't if you're on older gear. Sorry.)
When is iOS 10 released?
Based off previous iOS update releases, iOS 10 will probably start rolling out around 6pm BST. It may be a staggered release though, so don't sit by your phone waiting all night!
Prepare for the update
Before you click the magic button, make sure you backup your phone via iTunes or iCloud.
That way, if your phone gives up the ghost during the update process, or if iOS 10 has some killer bug, you've got a safe version to restore to later on.
How to update to iOS 10
But enough of that. How do you update to iOS 10?
Well, you should receive a notification as soon as it's available - if not, just go to Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install.
Remember to make sure you've got plenty of charge and spare memory!
