Guess what’s coming out this week? Star Wars: Rogue One. So that means it’s the perfect time to have a look back at the best Star Wars games on mobile. There aren’t that many that are REAL good, so it’s quite a short list.

But that’s okay, because as we all know it’s quality not quantity that makes the wheels of the world go round. Or something like that. And these games really are of the tip toppest quality. One of them might even be my favourite game ever.

And the other two are probably the best examples of the series they’re part of. So all in all, there might not be that many ace Star Wars games on mobile, but the ace ones are super ace. Just go read the list.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve written about KOTOR in glowing terms. And I expect that’s because it’s a high number, not that I can’t count very high. But it really is the finest example of the Western RPG in existence.

And this mobile version works brilliantly, letting you take control of one of the most interesting stories the Star Wars universe has ever told. And it has all the hallmarks of the Bioware games that came afterwards.

Set in the dim and distant past (a long LONG time ago) it’s a tale of Sith and Jedi that spans the galaxy. And it’s a galaxy populated with interesting characters and difficult choices. And lots of lightsabres.

Angry Birds Star Wars

This is, hands-down, the best Angry Birds game. It takes everything that made the original great, wraps it up in some excellent Star Wars window dressing, and then threads it through with some of the finest ideas the series has ever seen.

Plus it’s set during the original trilogy, which as everyone knows is the best trilogy. On top of that it looks gorgeous. I mean, the art style is top notch in almost all Rovio games, but there’s something special about bird and pig Star Wars.

There are a huge number of levels to work your way through, and plenty of secrets to uncover as well. It’s a perfect combination of two licenses, and it’s well worth revisiting to get you in the mood for Rogue One. If Rogue One has lots of birds in it anyway.

Lego Star Wars The Complete Saga

The original Lego games, the block building, exploring, and co-operative playing that launched a thousand ships. Well, not ships, but other Lego games based on famous movies and TV shows.

There’s a rich vein of humour that runs through the experience, and fans of Star Wars are going to lap it up like a Rancor lapping up the blood of one of its recently slaughtered victims.

There’s a huge chunk of game here, set across multiple films, and you’re going to have the biggest smile on your face while you’re playing it. Quite frankly what more could you ask for out of a videogame?
