It’s Wednesday, so that means it’s time for our look at the best games that are on sale on the App Store right now. It’s been a bit of a slow week for price cuts, but we’ve dug deep and discovered some gems.
And let’s be honest here, this is the time of year when we all go a bit crazy for a deal. Mainly because we don’t have any money, we’re pretty depressed, and we’re desperate for anything to distract us from the crushing loneliness.
But don’t you worry, AppSpy is here to help. Not with the crushing loneliness unfortunately, but with the not having to spend very much money to look at shiny things. Sorry. Here’s the list.
Lifeline: Whiteout
One of the most interesting series on the App Store. Essentially you’re talking a stranger through a terrible situation. In this case they’re lost in an icy wilderness. Which is sort of fitting.
The game is played through notifications, and unfurls itself at its own pace. If you like text-based adventures and a bit of innovation then it’s definitely worth grabbing this while it’s free.
Blitz Breaker
A super tough retro platformer that fits snugly into the niche that the likes of Nitrome has been carving out for itself. It’s hard, it’s cute, and it wanders along in bite-sized slices of adventure.
Lead a pixel bobble head through a series of spikes, circular saws, and other obstacles. It’s tough, it’s addictive, and right now it’s dirt cheap.

Ittle Dew
A cheeky and irreverent take on the Zelda template starring a main character who isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Which is always refreshing.
Travel through a variety of dungeons solving puzzles, dealing with enemies, and generally having a lovely old time of it.

Pixel Heroes: Byte and Magic
Pun! The name of the game is a pun! That’s the sort of thing we’re into here on AppSpy. Well, that and really good games. Like this one.
Essentially it’s a super old school RPG, right down to the clunky graphics and sound. But if that’s your cup of tea then you’re going to lap it up like someone lapping up a cup of tea that they really like.

Motorsport Manager
A decidedly well put together simulation that involves running your own motorsport team. Pick drivers, choose your mechanics, and try and balance your budget so you can get to the top of the podium without going bankrupt.
It’s deliciously presented, and if you’ve even got the slightest soft spot for sporting sims then you’re probably going to fall instantly in love with this.
