Oh Sunday. Dirty, lonely Sunday. Squatting at the end of the week, reminding you that you’re closer to going back to work than you were yesterday. If only there was something that could ease some of that pain.

Like, I dunno, some sort of list of the five best games that came out on the App Store this week? That’d sort us all out and get us in a better frame of mind for the hell that’s approaching over the horizon.

So I’ve gone and written one. It’s just below here. Read it, grab a game, and see if you can deflect the growing weariness at your place in the system for just a little bit longer than usual.

Splitter Critters

A game that’s mainly about slicing up the world. Not in a weird way, in a way that helps adorable little creatures get around the place. Which is sweet.

It’s the sort of thing that works best on mobile, it’s premium, and I reckon you’re going to have a lovely old time poking and swiping your way through it.

Creature Quest

A casual RPG with enough twists and turns in its arsenal that anyone who’s a fan of the genre is going to lap it up like delicious ambrosia.

It won’t be to everyone’s taste, but quite frankly, what is? Collect monsters, quest through a magical land, and get told what to do by a pug and a kitten mage.

A Normal Lost Phone

A clever narrative adventure that takes place on someone else’s phone. There’s a mystery to solve and puzzles to figure out, all using the controls you use on your mobile every day.

It’s dark in places, bright in others, and it’s a really intriguing experience that does things differently. Well worth checking out.

WWE: Champions

A match-stuff puzzler with the added frisson of sweaty muscular men beating the living hell out of each other. For each match you make, your wrestler will smack their foe.

There are special moves, a super cool art style, and an awful lot of game to sink your teeth into. Violent and smart. It’s the perfect combo. Sort of.

Squad Wars: Death Division

A multiplayer shooter that sees you teaming up with friends or strangers and wandering about grey environs shooting each other in the face.

It could do with a few more players online to really make it click. And that’s where you come in. Pick it up and get blasting.
