Tower Keepers is a game about heroes that live in a tower. I mean I'm pretty sure that much is obvious from the name. What might not be so obvious is what the game's actually about. After all, sounds like another tower defence title, yeah?
NO.
It's actually a casual RPG with some interesting twists and PvP modes. And I've found all of this out so you don't have to go searching for information from other, lesser content hubs. Like your friends, or whatever.

So it's not a tower defence game, we've covered that much. What is it then? Well you lead a team of warriors through a series of fights. You're earning loot, new skills, and extra team members as you scrap.
Except you're not really scrapping. You don't really have much control over your team. It's one of those sort of games. You can select targets for certain moves, and you decide when to smash out your special moves.
It's casual then?
It's pretty casual yeah. It looks nice, but when it comes to things it actually lets you do, there aren't that many. Instead you're watching numbers go up, and making sure your heroes are as tough as they can be.
It's reasonably interesting, if you're into that sort of thing. But this definitely isn't the pared back RPG that's going to convince you that there's some merit in the genre. It'll just make you tut and wander off.
What are the twists?
There's a bit more playing around with your characters than usual here. You're not just looking at numbers and seeing the benefit, there are choices you need to make about the skills and talents that your fighters take onto the battlefield with them.
You can also learn different weapon proficiencies, and play around with the make-up of your team from pretty early on. It's not a lot, but it means genre aficionados are going to have something to sink their teeth into.
Worth looking into then?
It has its moments. It's certainly not the most innovative game that's landed on the App Store this week, but it's engaging enough if you're the sort of player who doesn't mind taking a back seat to the mechanics.
