Minecraft: Pocket Edition is the game that keeps on giving. It's massive, it's always getting updated, and there's a huge community of fellow builders out there.
And since Mojang added the option to play online, things have got even more interesting. Minecraft: Pocket Edition is starting to be one of those games that does do exactly what it says on the tin, and that's no bad thing.
But is Minecraft: Pocket Edition the best way to play Mojang's world conqering build-'em-up? Well we're AppSpy, so we're sort of contractually obliged to say yes. And we've stuck the reasons into list form. But if you think we're wrong, feel free to shout as us in the comments. We love it.
It fits in your pocket
This is probably the biggest gold star that Pocket Edition gets. It's literally a world that you can fit in your pocket. No more lugging laptops around, you've got everything you need to build on the go.
And that means your creative impulses can be indulged wherever you are. Bored at work? Whip out your phone and add some crenellations to that castle that you've been working on?
But you don't just have to build anymore. You can jump into survival mode too. Fancy trying to survive a night in Minecraft while you're taking a comfort break? Well then you can.
It's pretty cheap
If you want to play on your own, and you don't mind missing out on some skins, then you're only going to have to spend £6.99 / $6.99 to get the Pocket Edition. And that's hardly anything for a game that pretty much defined a generation.
And even if you're going to end up spending, you're never going to break the bank. Especially when you consider that, to all intents and purposes, Minecraft is basically going to go on forever. Like, you can't win.
There's a whole lot more
There are loads of apps and mods you can download to change the way the game plays. And it's all from the comfort of the App Store. The lovely, comfortable App Store.
Sure, some of them might be scams, but there's still a really interesting ecosystem of different skins and mods available out there. And you don't need any PC knowhow to get them.
It's just easier
PC gaming is, quite frankly, very dull. If I'm playing a game, I don't want it to be on the same machine I use for work. Because then it just feels like work.
Whereas a phone? A lovely lovely phone that I can pretty much curl up in a ball with and tap buttons until my heart's content? Now you're talking.
