Overwatch might be coming to Switch, here's why it should come to iPhone and iPad

Everyone really likes Overwatch. All of my cool friends with their games consoles tell me I should spend money on it so that I can play it, but that sounds an awful lot like effort, so it's unlikely that it's going to happen.

But there are rumblings that Overwatch might be coming to the Nintendo Switch, which got me wondering - could the game come to mobile?

And so here, in list form, are some reasons why it might. If you can think of your own, either for or against, then whack them in the comments and we can have a right good chat about it, like how friends do.

The power of the iPhone

The black slab of metal and glass in your pocket or your hand is pretty damn powerful nowadays. Sure, it might not be able to run Overwatch in all of its shiny glory, but I reckon it'd be able to run something pretty darn close.

Community

There are loads of mobile gamers. Just millions of them (and I assume they all read this site). And while Overwatch might be a little too far down the hardcore scale for some of them, I reckon a decent port would have a pretty impressive player base. Just look at Afterpulse and how many players that's got.

Controllers

The MFi controllers might not be the best controllers in the world, but launch a decent one alongside Overwatch, or allow players to use Bluetooth controllers from other consoles, and you're on to a winner here. You'd need to make sure the touchscreen controls were solid too, which would be more difficult, but it might work, you never know.

Hearthstone is there

I mean, Hearthstone is a completely different mobile proposition, but it shows that Blizzard is serious about mobile gaming. To be honest I'm still surprised we haven't seen a port of World of Warcraft to tablets and phones yet, but Overwatch could be another step in that direction.

A cheaper option

Some people don't have expensive consoles or PCs, so giving them the option to play on their phone opens up the game to a wider audience. Cross-platform play might be a little unfair, but wouldn't exactly be out of the question.

Cross pollination

Letting players take their home Overwatch character out and about with them would provide another incentive. Hell, make a free to play version with slightly simpler controls and gameplay-bursts designed for mobile and I think Blizzard would be on to a winner.
