I have something of a soft spot for silly football. I think it stems from the fact that I'm not very good at sensible football. And when people take things seriously it genuinely upsets me and makes me want to lay down on the floor and cry.

Retro Soccer is a game about kicking a ball into a goal. In that respect, it's much like any sort of soccer. In many other respects though, it's more like a cartoon version of the world's favourite sport.
Everything is controlled with taps and swipes. Including the frankly ludicrous sliding tackles that see you scything through huge chunks of the playing field.
Your shots are accompanied by the ball setting on fire. Because your muscular pixel legs have kicked it so hard it's burst aflame. Cool, right?
There's a load to do here as well. A career-style mode sees you working through a variety of challenges, getting free gifts and levelling up as you go.
Then there's the more standard cup and league formats that see you leading your team of no-name all stars to the top. Or the bottom, depending on how badly you play.
And the whole thing is a lovely slab of raucous fun. It's a time killer in the very best way, and you'll have a smile on your face the whole time it's in your hands.
