So you've gone right ahead and downloaded Dune, the new game from Voodoo. You're sat there looking at it, wondering why your scores aren't the greatest scores that anyone has ever gotten in the game. Well fret ye not little one, because we're here to help.

If you're not familiar with the game, it's sort of like Tiny Wings. But there's a bit more going on than that. And rather than chasing distance you're chasing points. Lovely, lovely points that are going to make your family proud of you and probably get you that promotion you've been chasing at work.

So strap in, sit tight, look at the screen, and we'll walk you through a bunch of hints and tips to ensure that you're smashing those high score tables like a rampant bull in a hypothetical china shop. You're welcome.

What do I do?

The controls are pretty simple. Push on the screen and the little ball you're controlling will stick to the ground and gather speed. Lift up your finger at the top of an incline and you'll fly through the air. Push back down on the screen while you're airborne and you'll shoot down.

The aim of the game is to get over the white line near the top of the screen. This will score you one point. You can build up combos by getting smooth landings every time you swoop back down to the earth.

Don't dive

Sometimes though you're going to want to avoid diving back to the ground. If the terrain isn't perfect for a landing, tapping back on the screen can often do more harm than good. If you get a landing wrong you'll stop dead and your run will come to an end. As you can imagine that isn't ideal.

The key is to focus on keeping moving. You might not score some points for a bit, but if your ball is still rolling then you're going to have the chance to earn more as you get further into your run. And that's far more important than keeping your combo going when it's borderline impossible.

Check the ground

Look at the piece of ground that you're going to be landing on. What shape is it, and how is it going to affect your movement when you land on it. Being able to quickly figure out what's going to happen is an important skill to learn.

Some of the half-pipe style protrusions might look tempting, but getting a decent landing on them is actually pretty difficult. Try and focus on smooth movement, rather than anything jarring, and you'll be working your way up the leaderboards in no time flat.
