We're almost there - we've told you what we think the fifth best game of the year is. We've told you what we think the fourth best game of the year is. We've even told you what we think the third best game of the year is. Now it's time for number 2. Or you can check out games 10-3 with a click here.
There were some tough choices to make when it came to which game deserved the top-spot, but in the end we think we've got this one right. If you don't agree though, make sure you let us know in the comments at the bottom of the article. Before you do that though, here's our choice for the second best game for iPhone and iPad of 2018.
Shadowgun Legends
It might have been overshadowed by PUBG and Fortnite, but this is hands-down the best multiplayer shooter that came out for iOS this year. It doesn't have the laser-focused tension of a battle royale game, but it has so much more. For one thing there's always something to do - challenges, PvP, PvE, raids, quests - Shadowgun Legends doesn't scrimp when it comes to content.
Then there's the violence. It's brilliantly balanced, full of amazing set-pieces, and there are times when it's going to leave you breathless in the best possible way. Oh, and it looks absolutely stunning. This is console quality gaming in the palm of your hand. It's not just about the gameplay though, there are little moments where the hub world puts you front and centre - walking in to collect your rewards and seeing a statue of yourself in the middle of the public area is pretty awesome.
Shadowgun Legends understands what makes modern players tick, and folds that understanding into one of, if not the, slickest blasters that we've seen during the iPhone era of mobile gaming.
