Every week here at AppSpy we like to give you the heads-up about a game that's coming out soon that we think you should be getting excited about. This week, we've selected the emotional post-apocalyptic goat-farming simulator The Stillness of the Wind. And we're going to tell you why.
The game sees you playing as an old woman who's tending her goat farm in the middle of the collapse of civilization. The story comes to you from snatches of messages brought by a travelling salesman. You still need to feed your goats as well, and make sure the farm doesn't fall into disrepair.
This is set to be a slow game, with a focus on the connections between the characters, and how they fit into the world. It's going to pose the sort of questions that get us excited here at AppSpy - the sort of questions that a lot of games are too afraid, or too disinterested in, to ask.
The main themes running through the experience are loss, humanity, memory, and a sense of place. Oh, and goats. And the end of the world. Basically there's a lot going on with this one, and we're super interested to see how it all comes together into a coherent whole.
We like to try and cover every sort of game here at AppSpy, and to try and point you in the direction of games that you might not otherwise have spotted. We think The Stillness of the Wind is definitely going to be one of those games, and we're super excited to find out what you think about it when it comes out later this week.
The game will set you back £4.99 / $4.99 when it lands on the App Store on Thursday. There's also Switch and Steam versions coming out on the same day, and they'll cost you three times as much. So really, mobile is the only platform you should be thinking about playing this one on.
What do you think? Is The Stillness of the Wind the sort of game we need to see more of in the mobile gaming world? Let us know in the comments section at the bottom of this paragraph.
