'Tis the season for some good old fashioned console gaming.
There's nothing quite like firing up the PC, PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo, and getting stuck into some meaty AAA video games.
As mobile is such a big thing these days, the console folk have started integrating mobile and tablet companion apps into their titles in an effort to enhance the experience when you can't be at your TV. So if you're lucky enough to be playing the latest Grand Theft Auto, FIFA, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, or some other huge release from 2014, you should check out the list below to see if a companion app is available.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
The Official Shadow of Mordor Palantir app listens while you play the game to give you information about characters and settings in it.
Elite: Dangerous
Simply titled Elite: Dangerous, this app gives you basic information on your phone, such as details on Starport Services and Pilot status, plus a simple news tracker.
Far Cry 4
Far Cry 4 Arcade Poker allows you to play the titular game of cards, all the while earning cash for your main game in Far Cry 4, that I assume you can then spend on guns and whatnot.

Watch_Dogs Companion: ctOS Mobile is a really cool companion app, definitely one of the best on the list. It's a cross-platform multiplayer mode that sees you using your console / PC version to escape a player laying traps on their mobile.

Assassin's Creed Unity
Assassin’s Creed Unity Companion unlocks several chests found throughout Paris on this Arno-em-up. To do so you try to find hidden symbols, and send a team of Assassins on missions.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Companion essentially looks after a lot of clan stuff in the multiplayer. You can create logos, chat with clan mates, and organise clan wars.
