GDC, it's easy as 1, 2, 3 - AppSpy's Sunday Service

By , on March 8, 2015

It's AppSpy's Sunday Service, the quickest way to get up-to-speed on the world of mobile and handheld gaming. This week Mark headed to San Francisco for GDC...

The Big Stories

1. This War of Mine is a sobering look at the realities of armed conflict.

2. Look how nice and chill Breath of Life is.

3. Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon is a fascinating sequel to an iOS classic.

4. Drifter is full of galactic jerks, but that's okay because you can shoot them all.

5. You can win a copy of 'Final Symphony' (an orchestral take on several Final Fantasy soundtracks) in our latest competition.

We've described Rad Boarding as Tiny Wings meets SSX, and I think that's as good a reason as any to feature it as our recommended game of the week. Free-to-play (but not that icky kind of free-to-play), big scale, and super fun: you've no reason to not go give it a try.

How we spent our weekend

James: I'm going to try to play Aliens: Colonial Marines for 45 straight minutes without throwing up in my mouth, before giving up after 15 minutes and playing Alien: Isolation for 24 hours straight. Also Super Hexagon because obv.

Peter: Hanging out with my pals in Manchester, playing board games, and trying another of those "Escape The Room" things. Will probably use the train ride as an excuse to play a whole bunch of Desert Golfing.

Danny: Going to catch a few new movies, set up some old consoles (if they have 240v PSUs), and sort through a box or two of tat from Japan.

Glen: Collecting every last star coin in New Super Mario Bros. U and drooling over my new Nexus 6.

Harry: I'll probably try and do something creative and rebellious and end up buying new jeans instead.

Mark: Recovering from GDC, probably.
