Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall is the latest mobile-bound game based on HBO’s wildly successful fantasy series. It seems to be a strategy RPG of sorts, with a large focus on collecting the show’s most iconic characters.
It comes to us from GAEA Mobile, the publisher behind the likes of Ace of Arenas and Heroes of Camelot. On the development side of things is Behaviour Interactive. Of all the many Game of Thrones games we’ve seen over the years – including Game of Thrones: Conquest, Reigns: Game of Thrones, and Telltale's story-based Game of Thrones series – this one looks like one of the most promising.
You’re tasked with commanding a Night’s Watch castle while forcing back both wildling and undead hordes from north of the wall. Along the way, you’ll gather recruits and hone your skills in tricky tactics-style combat.
The game features a PvE mode as well as a PvP mode, and there’s a layered metagame where you’ll recruit and upgrade troops from all over Westeros.
For more insight into the game’s development, you can check out a full interview with Behaviour Interactive creative director Justin Jones over on PocketGamer.biz.
Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall will be launching for iOS and Android later in the year. There is of course the option to pre-register over on the game’s official site, and there’s the promise of “exclusive rewards” for doing so.
