illo: Help the Armadillo Escape is a newly released runner from Spanish indie developer Mar Carballo. It sees you playing as a highflying armadillo, who escapes the back of a poacher's van to begin a globetrotting adventure.
You'll see a variety of beautiful locations on your trip, including Zarautz, Madrid, Bilbao, and Piravik in Norway. Gameplay is a mix of fast-paced platforming and intense runner action, with you having to avoid touching the ground at all costs. As you progress, you'll unlock new skills and upgrades with which to traverse the environment.
I really like its distinctive aesthetic and general art design, though I have to wonder if we'll see more colours other than blue or orange. There's said to be a ton of easter eggs to find throughout the levels, with references to Game of Thrones, Spanish bullfights, and YouTuber El Rubius.
If you like the look of illo: Help the Armadillo Escape, you'll find it available for download now from both the App Store and Google Play.
