Wilderless is an open-world game where the focus is placed on exploring and enjoying nature. It isn't developer Protopop's first go at this sort of experience, with their earlier Nimian Legends games laying the foundations for what is achieved here.
Its depiction of nature – of being in the great outdoors – appears to be both serene and utterly epic in scale, though know that it's not aiming to offer the same loot-hunting, monster-killing thrills now so entwined with the genre.
Instead, you'll spend your time soaking in the scenery, enjoying nature, and occasionally transforming into a hawk to soar through the skies and admire the wilds from above. In human form, you'll also be able to skate over frozen lakes up north, or hop in a boat for a calming sail along the river. Sounds lovely, doesn't it?
Naturally, there's a fairly in-depth photo mode that allows you to capture anything that may take your interest, from smaller, intimate moments to expansive shots of everything the eye can see.
I could throw some stats at you that would no doubt impress, including that each of its many worlds is around 250 square km in size, but they wouldn't mean much if the core experience wasn't worthwhile and affecting. And, thankfully, it absolutely seems to be resonating with players, as it's currently sitting on a perfect 5-star rating on the US App Store.
Wilderless is now available for purchase as a premium title for iOS. It's priced at $2.99.
