Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road (once known as Project Xehanort) finally has a firm release date for iOS and Android – and it's sooner than you might expect. The long-awaited RPG is now set to launch next Monday, June 22nd.
This one is a prequel story that focuses on the early life of series antagonist Xehanort as he goes from being a budding keyblade wielder to a full-on villain.
The game, once launched, will be playable through the Kingdom Hearts Union X app, though both titles are very separate experiences.
Gameplay here revolves around fast-paced card battles against a host of well-known enemies from the earlier games. It also looks really quite nice, with a strong cartoon art style that helps to set it apart from the mainline entries.
It was originally intended to launch last month, but a delay was eventually announced in late May. The decision was made to push the release back due to "current conditions", likely meaning the ongoing pandemic.
More info on Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road, including a personality test, can be found over on the game's official site. And, as I say, it will launch next Monday, June 22nd, for iOS and Android as a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
