XCOM 2 and all of its DLC is launching on iPhone and iPad on 5th November.

Feral Interactive today announced the alien tactical shooter would be releasing on iOS devices after a successful run on PC, consoles and Nintendo Switch. Originally released in 2016 as a sequel to the earlier XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the plot moves forward as aliens rule the earth, with a new order promising a brilliant future while crushing all opposition. Meanwhile the scattered XCOM forces gather to ignite a global resistance, save humanity, and reclaim the planet.

The XCOM 2 Collection for iOS will deliver the full experience, featuring the base game, the War of the Chosen expansion, and four DLC packs. It features tactical squad-driven gameplay, in which you control a small squad of soldiers as they investigate areas on Earth and fight against hostile extra-terrestrial threats. One popular aspect of the game is its use of “permadeath”, in which player characters can die during combat and will be permanently removed from the game, presenting a nice balance of risk/reward if you want to pull all your squadmates through each mission.

Considering its outward expansion onto platforms outside of PC, having also released on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch between 2016 and 2020, it was only a matter of time before the game landed on mobile. There’s also the precedent of XCOM: Enemy Unknown releasing on iOS and Android not longer after its original release on other platforms.

In terms of available platforms, the XCOM 2 Collection is supported on the iPhone 7 Plus, 8 Plus, and any iPhone released since the iPhone X. Supported iPads include all iPad Pros released since 2017, and all other iPads released since 2019. Currently, there is no confirmation of an Android version.

The XCOM 2 Collection for iOS will launch on 5th November for £23.99, with no additional in-app purchases.
