Today, Square Enix announced Just Cause: Mobile will be coming to iOS and Android devices sometime next year.

It’s a top down shooter based on the Just Cause series which has released on PC and consoles over the years, but it’s designed specifically for touch screens and includes a singleplayer campaign and various multiplayer modes to partake in too.

You’ll create your own custom character and grapple, glide and shoot through four different game modes, including the story campaign which has been written specifically for this title. In it, you play as a member of the Agency’s secret program, Firebrand, and must battle Darkwater forces in large open locations. Characters that have appeared in the series before will also show up and allow you to form alliances with.

You can also test your skills by pitting yourself against other players in Just Cause: Mobile’s multiplayer mode called Triple Threat. Up to 30 players take part, where three teams of ten battle for control by securing bases and securing points while killing each other. Then there are the co-operative missions, where you and three pals work together to complete missions involving defending against waves of enemies and high powered mechs.

Last but not least, there’s a Challenge Mode for the players who want the ultimate trial. Here, you must achieve high scores across three distinct challenges which include causing a lot of destruction as possible in the shortest amount of time. If you score well you will be able to claim greater rewards too.

Just Cause: Mobile launches sometime in 2021 for the iOS App Store and Google Play for Android. There’s still no word yet on when exactly that’ll be, but be sure to keep an eye on the game’s official website for any updates. It will be a free to play title with in-app purchases.
