If you’ve been binge-watching The Mandalorian on Disney+ lately and need a bit of mobile Star Wars in your life, Aspyr and Lucasfilm has finally brought the classic Obsidian RPG Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords to your phone on iOS and Android.
It’s set thousands of years before the films, in an age where the Jedi are being hunted to extinction by the Sith. You play as a surviving exile Jedi who must restore their connection with the Force and set out to stop the Sith and bring balance to the galaxy with the help of faithful companions.
“Fans have been asking for a mobile version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II for so long, and we’re thrilled to finally bring it to them,” said Aspyr’s Elizabeth Howard earlier this month on the upcoming launch of the mobile game. “We’re proud to continue working with Lucasfilm to bring classic titles like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II to modern platforms.”
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords was originally released in 2004 on PC. It was the first RPG that Obsidian developed under its own brand, but the developer had previously had a lot of experience in that genre having been responsible for making Fallout, Planescape: Torment, and Icewind Dale as Black Isle Studios. It would also go on to create Alpha Protocol, Fallout: New Vegas, and last year’s The Outer Worlds.
If classic Star Wars games can now come to mobile, it may only be a matter of time before we see classics like Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars Bounty Hunter also come to our handheld devices.
You can download Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords from the iOS App Store or Google Play for Android. It’s a premium title costing $14.99.
