Wargaming Group is releasing a new update for World of Tanks Blitz next month in which the vehicle combat game is heading for the final frontier: outer space. The update will arrive on iOS and Android in April.

It’ll start with a dedicated Battle Pass called Operation Red Planet, which stars a new Explorer tank called Tier VI Cromwell B medium tank. This operation will run from 1st April all the way to the 30th.

World of Tanks Blitz has actually launched a real model into the stratosphere to celebrate this upcoming update, using a 1:32 size replica model and springing it up into the air at a speed of up to 15m/sec. It hovered 24 kilometres above Earth before landing successfully. You can see it in the video we’ve embedded below.

In addition to the new Battle Pass, World of Tanks Blitz is also hosting a bunch of space-themed activities throughout April, including several in-game events, and the return of Burning Games and the Gravity Force modes.

Taking place from 26th March to 5th April, the Galaxy Riches event grants you with an outstanding chance to obtain unique in-game items which can be exchanged for resources like credits, boosters and certificates for Premium Account days.

There will also be a week of Burning Games which occurs from 31st March to 4th April, as well as the Sheridan Rocket event which will burst into World of Tanks Blitz on 9th April and stays until 16th April.

Finally, World of Tanks Blitz is also seeing the long-awaited return of the Gravity Force mode, which will be available from 12th April to the 18th, and will introduce a new ability which allows tanks to jump up and operate from within the air.

“April is a traditional “cosmic” month in World of Tanks Blitz, when we encourage our players to step out of the earthly limits and indulge in a truly out-of-this-world experience,” says Natallia Pershyts of Wargaming Group. “This time, we’re treating them to a whole cluster of special activities so everyone can find something to their liking.”

You can download World of Tanks Blitz from the iOS App Store and the Google Play for Android store, where it is a free to play game with in-app purchases.
