Call of Duty Mobile will be gearing up for a new event on 20th May, with Activision giving the game a new 80s flair with new crossover characters and other goodies. The update will be available for iOS and Android devices.

The 80s Action Heroes event will also be occurring in the game’s console and PC counterparts, Call of Duty Warzone and Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. It is being released to coincide with the recent launch of Verdansk 1984 in Warzone, which saw the old map be destroyed in a nuclear attack as the game shifted into a flashback 80s setting complete with big changes to the landscape to symbolise this shift in time period.

The details of the 80s Action Heroes event are still bare, but we do know that iconic characters from films of the time are coming to the game as playable operators: John Rambo, from the Rambo series, and John McClane, from the Die Hard series.

The official announcement for the event came from a tweet posted by the Call of Duty Twitter that states: “Some heroes Die Hard. Others draw First Blood. The action begins May 20th.”

Hints of this event were already made before through cryptic tweets referring to Rambo’s kill count like a K/D ratio, as well as references to Nakatomi Duct Cleaning (Nakatomi being the company building the first Die Hard film is set in).

The 80s Action Heroes event for Call of Duty Mobile, and also Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, launches on 20th May. More details about the event should occur before then, but you’ll be able to download the update when it goes live on the iOS App Store and the Google Play for Android store.
