Today, publisher LT Games has released a casual tycoon sim called Turmoil. It has been developed by Dutch studio Gamious and is available now for iOS and Android. It sees you looking to become the biggest oil baron during the rush in 19th century North America.
To kick off your business, you will need to acquire land at the local auction before searching for oil. You can do this in various ways, such as using dowsers, moles, or scans. Once you've struck liquid gold, you will set to work creating an efficient pipe network to extract the oil as soon as possible. From there, you'll need to buy wagons and silos to transport and stash your haul to keep it safe as you wait for the right moment to sell.
Once you've got the basic setup, there are numerous ways to expand your oil empire to help it crush the competition. The ground is full of rocks you need to drill through while natural gas pockets can also pose a problem. Of course, you'll want to make sure you don't spill any oil since you would effectively be pouring away potential profit.
Outside of the oil drilling operation itself, you will also head to the saloon periodically to meet with folk to discuss various business proposals. Meanwhile, you will want to buy stocks to gain shares in the town as you work your way to becoming mayor, which is the game's win condition.
But once you've beaten Turmoil once, you might still want to come back to it for another attempt. The game features various settings and randomly generated levels that promises to provide a different experience each time.
Turmoil is available now on the App Store and Google Play. It is a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
