Handy Games has announced that the non-violent stealth game El Hijo – A Wild West Tale is heading for iOS and Android on January 25th. It previously released on PC and Switch, where it has since earned a respectable 74 Metacritic score.

It follows the story of a young boy who sets off on an adventure to rescue his mother from some evil folk who have kidnapped her. However, to keep the game family-friendly – and to avoid a child embarking on a murder spree – El Hijo is a stealth game where clever distractions are used instead of bloody takedowns.

It takes place in a spaghetti western-inspired world, and his journey will take him through monasteries, deserts and towns, all of which are littered with bad guys. Our hero will need to stick to the shadows to avoid them and utilise his toys to distract the guards whenever there's no other way of sneaking past them without getting spotted.

Alongside avoiding bad guys, you will need to solve a series of environmental puzzles that promise to get trickier the further you progress. But that hardship is worthwhile as your courageous acts can encourage other children to try and make a break for freedom.

If the idea of playing a stealth game with touch screen controls is off-putting, fear not. The developers have included controller and, if you're on iOS, Apple TV support, so you can enjoy the PC and console experience on your phone.

El Hijo will release on the App Store and Google Play on January 25th. It is a premium game that will cost $9.99.
