Charming 2.5D platformer Paper Monsters is currently available free of charge from the App Store for the first time since its January release.

Mixing 2D side-scrolling and 3D environments allows the developers of Paper Monsters to play with perspective across the game's 16 expansive levels, which see you warping between the background and foreground in search of collectible goodies.

As you guide your cardboard character through the four distinct game worlds, you'll explore the oceans, take to the skies, battle gigantic bosses, and probably unlock a couple of Game Center achievements along the way, too.

We enjoyed Paper Monsters's quirky aesthetic and cheerful atmosphere, awarding it a solid 4/5 in our AppSpy review. It may not exactly revolutionise the platforming genre, but it's a lovable little thing, nonetheless.

Paper Monsters will remain an App Store freebie for "a limited time" only. Since there's no word on when this discount will end, you'd better side-scroll your way to the App Store pronto.
