A port of arcade classic Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has been announced for the iPhone, and fighting fans don't have long to wait. The game will tag into the App Store on 25th April.

Boasting a cast of 56 playable characters - 28 from Marvel, 28 from Capcom - Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has you select a team of three fighters and throw down fisticuffs against three opponents.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is renowned for its nuanced tag team fighting system and breathless pace, so it'll be interesting to see how Capcom manage to cram this classic onto the iPhone, and how much control fidelity will be lost in the translation.

The developers have decent form in this department, though. Street Fighter IV Volt's controls weren't perfect, but they were tight enough for the game to hadouken its way to a 5/5 AppSpy review.

Let's hope Marvel vs. Capcom 2 can pull off something similar when it hits the App Store on Wednesday 25th April.
