You know how we - and probably you - got all kinds of excited, breathless, and anxious at the news that Grand Theft Auto III: 10th Anniversary Edition was being ported to iPhone?

Get ready for a similar emotional onslaught.

Digital Trend's Adam Rosenberg was lucky enough to be invited deep into Rockstar's New York lair earlier this week for a hands-on preview of said open-world crime adventure on iPhone and iPad.

In between running down pedestrians and admiring the character modelling, Rosenberg coaxed a tantalising admission out of one of the Rockstar reps:

And yes, since you're probably wondering: It would be a 'technical challenge' to deliver mobile ports of Vice City and San Andreas, but it is 'very possible'.

So, yes, we may not have to wait toooo long for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to show their criminal faces on iOS.

I'm crossing my fingers, legs, toes, and eyes.
