World of Warcraft (WoW) may yet appear on the iPhone, for the chaps at Blizzard are actively considering ways of bringing their MMO baby to mobiles.
That's according to senior World of Warcraft producer John Lagrave, who discussed Blizzard's plans with Eurogamer last week.
We won't do it until we think it's decent. But it's interesting and the world is evolving towards that little handheld device [...] It would be foolish for any game developer to not be looking at that.
But bringing the expansive World of Warcraft experience to the iPhone would be no easy task, of course, as Lagrave points out.
It's hard! This is hard! Here's your platform, you've got to put an interface, what do you do?
So yes we have [considered mobile] and we always are. Maybe we'll stumble on the great way to put WOW on the phone - maybe we won't, but we're certainly looking into it.
When we have an epiphany, everyone will know. But for now, no epiphany!
WoW already has an App Store presence in the form of the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory app - this allows WoW players to gain access to the Auction House while on the move.
But, there's currently no way to PLAY WoW on the move. For now.
Let's keep all of our fingers and toes crossed, then, that some bright spark at Blizzard has an epiphany soon.
