Another day, another iOS companion app for a high profile console release. 

This time, it's Activision offering stat-tracking fans a free way to interact with the newly-released Call of Duty: Ghosts via their iPhone or iPad.

Provided you're running iOS 6 or higher, the Call of Duty app lets you control multiplayer match settings like squad selection and weapon loadouts from your touchscreen device. If you're the territorial type, you can also set up your very own clan, and compete against rival groups to seize control of the Clan Wars map.

Attacks can be co-ordinated using the built in chat system. You can even use the Clan Emblem Editor to ensure your image of a skull is the best image of a skull anywhere on the internet.

These Clan Wars only last for a finite period of time, mind, with winners walking away with unspecified in-game rewards. We can't say for sure, but we're guessing the reward has something to do with guns.

So, if you're diving into Call of Duty: Ghosts tonight and want to get your mobile device involved, you should probably download Call of Duty free from the App Store now. It's what that Alsatian would have wanted.
