Twenty years since its inception, Namco Bandai's enduring arcade racing series Ridge Racer is set to skid onto the App Store.

Titled Ridge Racer Slipstream, this mobile iteration of the franchise promises to teach mobile gamers the four 'd's: drift, drive, dash, and dominate.

As the trailer below shows, you'll be pitting your driving skills against other souped-up supercars over 20 tracks (10 unique, and 10 reverse).

This time out, there appears to be particular emphasis on customising your car. While there are only 12 vehicles initially available, you can tweak each of your rides' bodywork, wheels, and engine in over 300 different ways

As for the races themselves, they seem to tick all the expected boxes. Nitrous boosts, gravity-defying jumps, endless arcs of burnt rubber - all are covered in 30-second teaser video.

At this point, we're not sure whether Ridge Racer Slipstream will be a premium game or a free-to-play experience. However, we do suggest speed freaks and Ridge Racer fans mark December 19th in their calendars.
