Real Racing 3 has expanded the scope of its multiplayer mode, with a new update now letting you compete wirelessly with other racers in real-time.

When Real Racing 3 first appeared on the App Store earlier this year, EA and developer Firemonkeys made a point of promoting the game's Time Shifted Multiplayer feature.

This neat innovation let you compete against the ghosts of other players in your Game Center list, even when those players were offline.

However, due to popular demand, the Real Racing 3 team has decided to update its popular free-to-play racer with a good old-fashioned mutliplayer mode, allowing you to go head-to-head against your friends in real-time.

Accompanying the new mode are some snazzy new supercars: the McLaren P1 and the Lamborghini (see trailer above). You'll also be able to compete in an fresh event series, and pretty-up your rides with special holiday livery.

You can download the Real Racing 3 update right now.
