If you're not up on your PC gaming news, then Civilization: Beyond Earth is a sort of mix of Civilization V and Alpha Centauri that's had a largely positive reception amongst hardcore strategy game enthusiasts.

Sid Meier's Starships is coming to iPad (and PC and Mac) and is sounding a bit like a more tactical take on FTL and Out There, but set within the Beyond Earth universe: it's a turn-based tactical space combat game, in which you control a fleet of ships.

More than that it'll actually have an impact on the main Beyond Earth game too, if you so desire. How? No idea.

What we do know is that you'll explore the universe, protect your colonies, and spread peace throughout the cosmos, as any good nation of sentient beings should do.

Details are pretty thin on the ground right now, but the first trailer can be seen below. What do you make of it?
