Tokyo-based developer Prope Games launched its latest mobile game, Legend of Coin, in December last year. The unusual coin pusher was developed by former Sonic The Hedgehog programmer Yuji Naka, but don’t expect any lightning-quick hedgehogs to pop up. Monsters on the other hand...
The game centres on your standard arcade coin pusher. You have a shelf of jumbled silver pennies, nudged by a ‘broom’. Use the touch controls to throw more coins on the shelf, eventually shunting those nearest off and into your bank. But at the top of the screen is a little combat arena, where a creature is ready to take you on. To join the fight, you’ll need monsters. Monsters drop amongst the silver coins on the shelf for you to collect – over 200 in all. They can then be summoned to fight your enemy. End up with two of the same monster, and you can combine them to level up its power.
As well as monsters, special coins occasional appear upon the shelf. These grant various bonuses. Zeus Coins double your monster’s attack power, Monster Coins unleash a special attack, Lightning Coins allow you to throw coins for free and so on. When you defeat an enemy, it triggers a coin frenzy. Defeat specific enemies to release Magic Orbs – three of which nets you a hefty jackpot.
Throw coins, collect monsters and defeat enemies in Legend of Coin, available for free from the App Store and Google Play.
