What happens when you lie in bed, staring into space, and an innocent ray of light makes its way through the darkness and lights up the night? This is exactly how the concept of Lyxo came to Tobias Sturn, founder of Vienna-based independent game studio Emoak.
In this light-based puzzler which has just launched for iOS and Android, you make good use of the light to illuminate the dark. Using various ways to reflect and refract rays of light, you manipulate the light and shadows to light up rooms in a minimalist but breathtaking design. Players can also mix different colours to light up certain targets, as well as create new sources of light to avoid obstacles and get to your goal.
The beautiful soundtrack adds to the overall aesthetic of the Bauhaus-inspired visuals. As each of the 87 levels has been carefully handcrafted to provide a non-repetitive gameplay experience with surprises in every playthrough, players will no doubt find themselves immersed in a one-of-a-kind puzzle-solving rhythm throughout every stage.
Emoak is also responsible for the infinite climbing game Paper Climb and the sandbox game Machinaero on iOS.
Lyxo is available for $2.99 and can be found right now on the App Store and Google Play.
