The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War is the brand new strategy game that comes courtesy of publisher NetEase, the studio behind recent mega-hits like Infinite Lagrange, E.V.E Echoes, and Harry Potter: Magic Awakened.
It’s been a while since we last saw a licensed The Lord of the Rings game (the last being Middle-earth: Shadow of War released over four years ago). So if you’ve been dying to be transported back to Middle-earth then The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War is definitely the game you’ve been waiting for. And it’s one which promises to deliver a brand of strategic warfare never before seen on mobile, with a firm emphasis on social interaction and alliance gameplay.
An Epic Story
With a brand new story that departs from the narrative of the books, the realms of Gondor, Rohan, Lothlórien and Mordor: have all raised their banners and are ready to go to war over ownership of the One Ring. Set in an alternate time-line where it has yet to meet its final destruction in fires of Mount Doom, the infamous “One Ring To Rule Them All” has been placed in secret in the castle of Dol Guldur, hidden away in the treacherous forest of Mirkwood. Now that secret is out and the world of men, Wizards and Elves will do battle in order to claim their right to be The Lord of the Rings.
An Iconic world full of familiar characters
In The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War you will have command of legendary heroes and villains from Middle-earth. You can expect to see all of your favourite characters, from Gandalf to Frodo Baggins, to his faithful companion, Samwise Gamgee. Whoever you chose will be tasked with leading your troops, but be wise in your selection for each come with their own unique abilities and skill sets which will help you in your quest to conquer the territories of Middle-earth, all of which have been beautifully rendered in majestic 3D.
You can expect to see all of the iconic locales featured in the books and films, from the Elven realm of Lothlórien to the fiery land of Mordor. You will be tasked with assembling the most overwhelming legion Middle-earth has ever witnessed, with well-armed warriors including Knights, Archers and otherworldly fantastic creatures. Victory can be yours if you have a clever strategy and adopt the right tactics. Expanding your territories and winning land in the act of bloodshed will be the key to your success including forging new Fellowships and Warband’s. While you advance you will be presented with tiles. These ''Resource territories', will help you expand and develop your settlements, while providing your soldiers with important resources. Along the way you’ll also encounter important strategic tiles, featuring river crossings, tunnels, and other geographical advantages to help give you a tactical edge over your opponents.
Controlling territory is key to winning in The Lord of The Rings: Rise to War, so you’ll need to work closely with your Fellowship or Warband to grow in strength.
Forging a Fellowship
Forging a Fellowship or Warband seems like a big ask, but if you are able to convince other players to join you in your quest then you may just end up controlling Middle-earth. Each season will claim a new victor. Teamwork is the key in order to focus your strengths on your enemies’ territory, bolstering your army in order to achieve victory. Each battle will result in you either winning another piece of land or losing some of your own. The more territory you can amass, the stronger your Faction will become. The Lord of the Rings: Rise to War is both an innovative strategy game and a stunning tribute to the world of Tolkien.
