With the release of the new movie almost upon us, it was inevitable that there would be licensed game tie-ins. Alice in Wonderland for the iphone takes the basic premise of the film, and turns it into a pretty decent puzzle platformer. Alice is older now and back in the world of Wonderland. Problem is, she can't remember anything about it.
Control is normal fair for iphone platformers. There's two buttons for movement and a button to jump. The main portion of the gameplay is solving puzzles by switching Alice with other characters such as the White Rabbit, and Chesire Cat. To do this, simply touch Alice and make the switch. Their abilities can then be used by touching the objects you wish to interact with.
The game looks quite nice, with some beautiful hand drawn art, making Wonderland look other wordly with a dash of sinister. The music and sound effects suit the mood of the world. There is the main campaign to play through with plenty of unlockables for Alice's journal.
As far as licensed games go, Alice in Wonderland is a solid effort. The puzzles are well designed, the character switching gameplay works well, and the game looks nice. If you're itching to see the new film, are a fan of Alice in Wonderland, or enjoy a good puzzle platformer, give this a try.
