Railroad Madness is a fast paced puzzle game where players must take control of a busy railroad system and must direct different train carts to their stations. Your goal is to get as many safe arrivals as you can by switching the track directions to ensure that carts arrive in their proper destinations and that there are no collisions.
Players switch tracks around by flicking the screen and plotting a path for carts to travel. Or players can change the options to use a tap style control system to change track direction. Tracks will need constant adjusting in order to accommodate for the increasing amount of carts that will be arriving. There is also a ‘go’ button used to speed up gameplay, but this is a risky move that can lead to crashes or other mistakes.
The visuals are cartoonish and quite well presented; trains can be clearly identified and track directions are easy to monitor. The sound effects are good, but there is no game music and players are unable to use their iPod during gameplay. There is only one single player game mode, but highscores can be submitted to a global leaderboard.
Railroad Madness is an addictive puzzle game that delivers fast paced thrills and spills. The game is easy to play but hard to master, and the straight forward controls mean that it can be played by anyone. Despite the one main game mode and the limited sound options, Railroad Madness is still a solid title with plenty of challenging puzzle gameplay on offer.
