For those of you who didn’t have an excuse to twist and turn your iPhone around like a madman, then say hello to Starball, the tilt-controlled physics game. Players must roll their small ball around a game board, collecting stars to increase their highscore. However, the more stars you collect, the more dangerous red orbs appear to pop your ball, along with all of your hopes and dreams.
Players will need to constantly adjust and change the direction of their ball by tilting their iPhone to avoid these nasty red balls from ending their game. Random power-ups can be used to give you a small advantage, but you’ll need a lot more than just power-ups to get a solid score going.
The visuals are simple but the motions are fluid, making the game feel very sleek. There isn’t too much sound in the game but players are free to use their iPod instead. There is only one main game mode to play through but players are free to submit highscores to online leaderboards and track friend’s progress via OpenFeint.
Starball is a great play for those who love fast and frantic gameplay. The game is simple enough to make it a breeze to play but soon gets incredibly difficult, giving those highscore chasers something to strive for. All in all, Starball is a prime example of how simple things can be and are often the best and is well worth a look at if you love playing with your balls.
