Boxhead – The Zombie Wars is a twin sticks shooter game where players take control of a lone solider as you try to survive against the incoming swarms of zombies and demons. Continuing the online flash series of games of the same name, you must kill zombies in order to increase your streak and unlock new weapons and upgrades. These new weapons can be accessed by tapping on the weapon icon at the bottom of the screen and making their selection.

As mentioned, players will need to utilize the game’s dual stick controls to shoot the incoming enemies. But unlike some other games of this style, players can only shoot in 45 degree angles. Meaning you will have to adjust your position and line of fire rather than standing still and being able to spin around in a fluid 360 degree circle.

The visuals are quite smooth and the blocky figures give the game a certain charm. The sound is limited to weapon sound effects only and players are unable to use their iPod during gameplay. The game is single player only with leaderboard options, featuring three levels to play through.

Boxhead is a solid twin stick shooter than fans of Minigore or the online flash games will enjoy. The gameplay is very challenging but enjoyable, and while there are some limits to character movement and firing angles, it’s not something that will ruin the game for you. So if you love twin stick shooters, charming visuals and the challenge of beating the leaderboards, then Boxhead – The Zombie Wars is worth checking out.
