While it may be a little late to the party, Zombie Farm by Playforge combines two hugely popular concepts in gaming in to one package that's amusing, addictive and surprisingly cute in its execution.

Most of your farming duties can be performed through a menu driven system, however a handy "smart" pointer takes most of the need to directly navigate them. Tapping on fresh turf or recently harvested soil will automatically plow the land, while tapping on plowed land brings up the marketplace to purchase vegetables for profit or zombies for your growing army. As is traditional, most of the items are unlocked until you 'level up' and provide you with a greater variety of plants and items to decorate your field.

The graphics are bold and cute, but zombies that have been mutated by planting them near other crops can look distinctly odd if not outright amusing. Thankfully there's reason behind the madness of growing your army as you can regularly attack an AI controlled farm to earn more gold or the occasional brain to unlock rare game features. The music is fairly bland, but iTunes is supported.

Overall Zombie Farm is a relatively standard farm management game, but the addition of an 'action' based game gives your farm a purpose beyond simple decoration. Fans of management games may already be swamped with other similar titles, but for a free game it's worth checking out.
